Day 2

Good food, so far impressed with the shelf stable food from Nutrisystem. Having the veggies helped, the mushrooms in the foreman were awesome! I'm not gonna recap my meals but 1235 was my calories for the day, and it was satisfying, even though I wasted 100 cals for a coffee energy drink, tomorrow I will have the lemonade one. I need to find some parmesan cheese out here, like soon! I can have 2 tbsp for a serving and that would work with the pasta dishes and in the pizza, although I may use a string cheese with some grilled mushrooms and red peppers  on the little cheese pizza entree, hmmm..sounds yummy! I'm gonna have to start taking pics of my meal creations the truck.

Day 1 Nutrisystem

Well today went well for being unprepared. I didn't have enough veggies needed for all the meals but seemed pretty full without. The food was pretty tasty, portions small, but in compared to my usual much more realistic. We stopped at walmart and I got some "fresh" vegetables. Would love to make a trader joes run for some variety. I will be grilling on the foreman mushrooms, peppers and zucchini and steaming brocolli. I also bought some mini cukes and apple slices. Today I had the choc chip scone for breakfast, I think I will warm it next time, I also had a yogurt and banana. Lunch was chicken pasta with cacciattori sauce, slice of cheese, broccoli slaw with spray dressing and a V8. Dinner was potato wedges with sliced beef and a pear cup. Dessert was almond biscotti. Snack was bagel thin with pb and string cheese. And ALL that was only 1254 cal. I felt I was starving all day like I usually do when I think I'm not eating enough but honestly was not really hungry. The good news is my blood sugars were all below 200 infact my high was my am 174. So that is an immediate improvement! Pee'd all day like a preggo woman, I drank my 64 oz. All in all a good day, now tomorrow should be even better with more veggie options.

Nutrisystem.. starts tomorrow

Well here I go on another attempt to lose weight. I chose this plan because it is truck friendly, I can do this in the truck and have no excuses. I'm nervous, I am a serial diet failure but feel confident that I can do this. I am 42 and really need to do this. I will add my "before" pics in a few to make it official. Need my bikeshorts and tank top to look completely ridiculous, lol. Alrighty then, let's do this..

Good bye 2010... Happy New Years 2011!!!

Well, here we go with another years gone by. I have to say I will not miss 2010 at the least. I almost lost my husband this year and had some financial woes at the end but we made it. Looking ahead to 2011 I have the usual goals, lose weight, give more, lose weight, be a better person, lose weight, etc.. I hope to be a better person this year than the last, I am excited to see where this years takes me as an owner of a truck, not a company driver. The last few months have sucked with hubs being in the hospital, bad weather, truck troubles, lost our doggie of 13 years (RIP Loki, best dog ever) but again, we made it. We always seem to persevere through, even when it seems hopeless. That is our glue, hubs and I, our bond that keeps us strong. Not that the good times tear us down, but the hard times keeps us fighting together, the team, the union, the winners in the end. We are pulling out of the financial mess, we are getting healthier, we are getting used to the crap weather and it will end (eventually) and all and all the truck troubles are getting less and less as we weed through all the issues. I am really looking forward to some of the goals we have set for ourselves in the health related field, such as joining the Y as soon as financially stable. That right there will help our problem with finding exercise opportunities, and as truck drivers it is so important to make time for that. I plan on being a stickler on our budget to rebuild our savings we lost during our crisis, and then some. We are on a good steady run right now, so all this is possible, sooner than later. Let me just say, good bye to 2010, good riddance, and welcome with open arms 2011!!

3 weeks n counting...

Three weeks later and still no meat. I have eaten eggs today, and of course still dairy but no meat at all. I don't miss it, I have never been one who "needs" meat, I of course have liked a good steak and usually just fix it because I grew up on meat and taters but don't miss it. I am finding I am substituting more beans than I need and less grains, fruit and vegis and need to work on that. I do think about what to eat more, it is hard on the road if you are not cooked ahead and that is my biggest challenge. Most of my cheese has came from burritos on the road, and they are so simple to make but this last week was our new run and it alone was a challenge. I made a roll up with spicy hummus, sprouts, brocco slaw, tomatos and cucumbers and it was delish! I just got to get used to preppin ahead of time or taking the time to cut vegis. Breakfast is the same, cereal with soy milk and some kind of fruit. I usually had yogurt but tried cutting that out this week. That went just fine. Dinner is a challenge always in the truck. If I am cooking for the both of us, I usually cooked some kinda meat with brown rice, so now I have to come up with something different. We did alot of eating out this week so not a problem, other than finding something good to eat, alot of boca burgers with salads. After we get in the mode of this new schedule, I will try and cook alot of dishes up and put in those little foil bread pans to heat in the oven on the truck. Or at least "assemble" for cooking on the truck. And precooking pasta and putting in a little baggie and adding to some heated sauce would be easy as well. I just have to plan better for a better outcome. As far as feeling better, I do.. I haven't taken my blood pressure or weighed myself to see if there has been any change in the last week, mostly because I don't want to focus on the scale and get discouraged at all. I am at the now a habit stage and that right there is awesome to me. Anyone who reads this have any suggestions for portable easy meal ideas? Let me know!

Cleanliness in the truck...

Since I drive team, alot of our trips are expedited, meaning we have to run back to back with few stops. We can do this for 5-7 days without really stopping for necessities like showers. I have been experimenting with ways to keep clean without feeling nasty after a day or 2 without a shower. Washing up in the truck is easy, requires no more than some baby wipes, but washing my hair has been a challenge, until now.

I have done the jug of water over a bucket method and it is very messy. Then I tried "dry" shampoo, and all that does it powder your hair and feels worse than before. Then I found No Rinse Shampoo, and let me tell you, I love it. You basically pour it on your scalp and lather up. I then add a bit more for the lather and then towel dry.. when you are done, you are feeling like you just stepped out of the shower, you hair is damp and you can style as you like. I did use the shower cap, also on that site, but I find the bottle shampoo much better for me. But try both, you can microwave warm that cap and boy that feels nice!! Either way you feel like you just stepped out of the shower!!

The no rinse also has a body wash, you mix with water and sponge bath with it but you don't have to rinse, which, in a truck is hard. So the birdbaths in the sleeper are easier with this product as well.

Well, there is one of the main issues in our truck and it smells better in here already, lol.

First, about me...

I am a female truck driver, I drive team with my husband. We drive 48 states. That being said, unlike most drivers I come across, politically, we are rare. We are some of the few out here that are progressive, registered Democrats. We stand behind President Obama, he is making great strides even with the party of NO turning all down. We hope for better things for this country, we think he is doing a great job.

I have 2 grown children, 18 and 20, four dogs and live in Washington State.

I was born in Ohio, moved to Washington in 1980 and have lived there since. I believe that the PNW is more progressive than alot of the states and am shocked to be out here with such closed minds. But I am vocal with what I believe and will continue to be.

This blog is to talk about life on the road as a female and team driver. Challenges we face out here and of course a little politics.

Catch up..

Ok, now that I haven't posted forever and am adding to my facebook, I guess I will have to catch up. I am still driving truck all over. Like it would love to make more money at it but it is fun. The money will come as the economy recovers... anyone have a clue when that will be??
